General Information
Children are not allowed on campus prior to 8:00 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Early Arrival Program. There is no supervision for students before 8:00 a.m.
Children who are enrolled in the Early Arrival Program should enter the building through the outside cafeteria door beginning at 7:00 a.m. Children who are not enrolled in the Early Arrival Program are not admitted to the school building until 8:00 a.m.
Students arriving after the 8:30 a.m. bell are required to sign in at the front office before proceeding to class. Tardy arrivals will be monitored.
During dismissal, parents of walkers are asked to wait outside the building or in the front lobby. Small children and strollers in the hallways are a safety concern and impede the safe dismissal of classes. Students who walk up Hampton Valley Road toward Maynard Road are asked to exit the side doors next to the cafeteria. Other doors can be exited as needed.
Car riders receive a car pool number. Please display the car pool number on the right hand side of your dashboard when picking your child up at dismissal. Using two-way radios from the curbside, school personnel call the waiting children from the cafeteria by car pool number. The car pool line begins every afternoon at the last cone, next to the unpainted curb. Dismissal begins at 2:50 p.m.
All parents and guardians are welcomed to visit the school campus and classrooms. In order to assure the safety and security of all our children, all visitors are required to sign in at the main office and obtain a visitor’s badge.
Farmington Woods Elementary School has been fitted with IntelliKey, the keyed security system all Wake County schools will have installed. This security system insures a safe learning environment for all students. All visitors are required to enter the school by the front door and register with the front office. All other doors are locked to outside entry.
All parents are asked to complete a Student Release Form with original signatures. These cards are retained in the front office and are used to identify those who have authorization to sign your child out of school.
Cars should not be left unattended in fire lanes. Cars parked in the fire lane, which extends the length of the curb, prohibit access to the building by emergency vehicles.
Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s success in school. If your child will be absent from school or tardy, please call 460-3469 and notify the office. Doing this will help insure that every child’s safety has been accounted for. The voice mail is activated 24 hours a day to accommodate this request. A written excuse, signed and dated by the parent or guardian, is still required when the child returns to school.
All weather-related school closings are reported by the Superintendent’s office to all local television and radio stations.
